Are you tired of last minute meal decisions and scrambling to throw a nutritious meal together?  Meal planning is a game changer – here’s why:

  1. It saves time and reduces stress.  Writing out your meals once or twice a week allows you to streamline food shopping and food prep, saving time during busy weekdays, and reducing trips to the supermarket.
  2. It promotes healthier eating habits.  When you plan in advance, you are more likely to make nutritious choices and rely less on convenience foods or takeaways.
  3. Helps you stick to your budget.  By planning your meals you can create a shopping list based on what you need, reducing impulse buys (especially if you don’t shop when hungry) and minimise waste
  4. Encourages creativity and variety and allows for batch cooking.  You can experiment with new recipes and flavours and explore different culinary options.

If you like the sound of this, start by setting aside some time each week to plan out your meals, create a shopping list and prep ingredients in advance.  Don’t forget to incorporate all meals not just evening meals, as well as weekend options.  If you know you have a day in the week when you work late or have children’s activities, then you can plan ahead with something simple like an omelette or stir fry, and if you are out all day at the weekend, plan ahead with a slow cooked meal.
