Hello! I'm Sam Silvester
Who is the face behind What's Eating You?
I practice what I preach and live a very healthy life, but I have faced many health challenges, and so I understand what it is like to be unwell. (See My Story below)
After seeing how I could overcome my health problems with food and lifestyle, I knew that my mission was to help other people and show them how, with the right conditions, our bodies will restore themselves back to good health and vitality.
Now I would like to help you - please contact me
I had IBS for most of my 20’s, and at times, life felt miserable. Despite being sent to NHS Specialists, no one focused on diet, and it wasn’t until I tried removing gluten, dairy and oats, that things dramatically changed.
After the birth of my second child, I was burnt out and struggling, and developed Rheumatoid Arthritis, an auto-immune condition that affects the joints. I struggled with fatigue, pain and every day tasks, however natural and nutritional help for RA at this time was limited.
Aged 45 I was diagnosed with Cancer of Endometrium (womb) and had a full hysterectomy and radio therapy and went into menopause overnight, not being permitted HRT. Thankfully my nutrition training and the way I ate, helped the symptoms and I healed well.
At this time I became aware of the Auto Immune Paleo diet. This strict diet eliminates foods such as nuts and pulses, as well as gluten and dairy, but it was a game changer. My joints improved and I could manage with minimal medication and no pain killers.
Later in life I learnt meditation, and trained in Reiki and Sound Healing. These energetic therapies have helped heal my nervous system from the years of stress, and these are practices I wouldn’t be without. I Now I am much better at setting boundaries and pacing myself.
I enjoy yoga daily, dance weekly, plus strength training and walking.
My health will always be on going, but taking care with my diet, my movement and my stress means that I feel the very best I can, and I honour my body and mind so that I can enjoy my later years.
